tea-dyed deserts + wildflower abstract series preview

"This is the most beautiful place on the earth.

There are many such places. Every man, every woman, carries in heart and mind the image of the ideal place, the right place, the one true home, known or unknown, actual or visionary..."

-Edward Abbey

A lush, blooming  desert is MY place. I love the desert. Creating these little worlds on tea-dyed paper has been a joy and I am so excited to share them with you! This collection will be a bit different because it will be a "split" release. Along with the nine Tea-Dyed Deserts, I will be adding five new Wildflower Abstracts to the shop as well. I've found working on these two contrasting styles simultaneously is extremely satisfying and inspiring.

Each of the Deserts take a long journey from tea-dying and hand tearing, to layer upon layer of watercolor, gouache, pastel and gold ink. The jewel tones combined with the dusty-rusty look of the paper create a funky boho-vintage-glam look that can fit in many decors and look extra special in an 8x10 float frame.

Working on these wild mixed-media pieces has also been a dream. They are the first pieces in this style that I have offered, but Iā€™m truly hooked. Get prepared to see more coming through the studio! They are painted on cradled wood panels and have been wired for hanging, sealed, and protected. They are also deep enough to be displayed on a shelf or table.

If you are as excited about the new Wildflower Abstracts as I am, you can read more about them here.

Whether you are here for the Deserts or the Abstracts, I hope you enjoy them!
